The story so far (updated 20 January 2012)

TCT in the East Riding

The Story of how MsMM started and how it is continuing to develop. By Sheila Brazier

It seems a long time since June 2002 when we had our first gig in the garden, hoping our friends would enjoy our acoustic music concert, and raising “a bit” of money for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).  We named this “Midsummer Music Madness” because it was summer and it was definitely madness to plan a back garden event in view of England’s fickle weather!  Please see our website www.msmm.co.uk to see where this has led.

Although our plans to have a second concert the next year were curtailed because of a local objection, this proved to be the catalyst for our event to be moved to Brantingham Park, the home of our local Rugby Union club Hull Ionians – thus leading to Rugby Tackling Teenage Cancer.

We could never have anticipated how our “Madness” could have evolved, and how Rugby Tackling Teenage Cancer could be a significant fund-raiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Hull FC recognised the significance of Rugby Tackling Teenage Cancer and invited us to become their charity of the year in 2009.  This raised several thousand pounds for the charity, but perhaps more importantly, the profile of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

10 December 2011 - Beverley Brass Band Christmas Concert at Swanland Village Hall raised £321.18 for the Teenage Cancer Trust

Beverley Brass Band Christmas Concert

A Big thank you to all who attended the Beverley Brass Band Christmas Concert at Swanland Village Hall on Saturday 10th December. What a night! What an audience!

And with your help we raised £321.18 for the brand new TCT ward at Castle Hill Hospital!

The band also played some carols at the new TCT ward the following day which went down well, especially with the nurses.

We have booked Swanland Village Hall for hopefully a repeat performance on 8th december 2012.

Find out more about Beverley Brass Band and when and where you can listen to the band elsewhere.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Derby Match Hull FC V Hull Kingston Rovers 20th July 2008

One of the memorable events of Hull FC’s support of Rugby Tackling Teenage Cancer in 2008 was the local derby match, held at the KC Stadium on Sunday 20th July.

The Stadium Management allowed us to have a bucket collection which raised in excess of £2,000.00.  We understand that this was a record for of such an event at the KC.

The “bucketeers” i.e. those wielding the collecting buckets, crossed the East/West divide.  The Rovers supporters amongst them are very keen to promote Rugby Tackling Teenage Cancer at Craven Park in the future.

Healthy rivalry between the clubs can only be an advantage to our charity. Rugby Tackling Teenage Cancer started in Hull and it would be brilliant to have both of our Superleague teams on board. More....
